Fender FA-15N 3/4 Nylon Acoustic Guitar Review
The Fender FA-15N 3/4 Nylon is a compact and affordable classical guitar designed especially for beginners, young players, and those seeking a lightweight travel-friendly option. With Fender's trusted quality and user-oriented features, this model is a great starting point for anyone looking to explore nylon-string guitar music.
The FA-15N features an all-laminate body construction, including a laminated agathis top and laminated sapele back and sides. This combination provides durability and contributes to a warm, resonant tone. The natural gloss finish gives the guitar a sleek and attractive look, while the modern 3 plus 3 headstock design adds a stylish touch.
The neck is made of nato wood and shaped in a comfortable C-profile, making it easy for beginners to handle. It has a set-neck construction for added stability and is finished with smooth gloss urethane. The fingerboard is made of walnut and offers 18 frets with white dot inlays for easy navigation.
This guitar uses nylon strings, which are softer on the fingers compared to steel strings, making it an ideal choice for new players or those interested in classical, folk, or fingerstyle music. It has a fan-braced top that helps enhance its tonal projection, even with its smaller size.
The scale length is 23.3 inches and the nut width is 1.69 inches, offering a comfortable playing experience for smaller hands. The synthetic bone nut and walnut bridge add to the overall tonal balance and sustain of the instrument.
Other hardware includes open-gear tuning machines with pearloid buttons for smooth and accurate tuning. The guitar does not include a pickguard or strap buttons, emphasizing its classical design. It comes pre-strung with Fender 100 Nylon Classical Tie-End strings.
The FA-15N comes with a gig bag for convenient storage and transport. While the included bag is useful, Fender recommends using the FAS405 Small Body Acoustic Gig Bag for better protection, which is sold separately.
In summary, the Fender FA-15N 3/4 Nylon is a solid choice for those starting their musical journey. It offers a combination of comfort, playability, and classic nylon-string tone in a compact and attractive package. Whether you are a student, traveler, or casual player, this guitar is well-suited to meet your needs without breaking the budget.
